Sustainability and Resilience
Resources
Whether it's growing our own food, protecting the water in our community, or sorting out recycling options, there are ways to protect our precious resources.
Walnut Hills NA has joined with Belmont/Eastmont/
Hearthstone and Linden Heights neighborhoods to hold quarterly recycling events. Accepted items are:
styrofoam
cardboard
electronics
tires (we may limit quantity)
batteries
used oil
anything on this list

A simple way to protect our water is to adopt a storm drain - check out Dayton's program here:

Energy
The best way to lower energy costs and improve property values is to tighten up your home with weatherization upgrades. Beyond that, converting to solar power will save on energy bills and increase the value of your home.
Miami Valley Solar Co-op is open to residential properties. Go to www.solarunitedneighbors.org/co-ops/ohio/miami-valley-2023-solar-and-ev-charger-co-op/

Disaster Preparedness
Members of our community will want to help each other in a disaster. We want to be ready. Consider being the "good neighbor contact" for your block - the person who can identify the helpers and those who will need help. Go to https://bit.ly/good-neighbor-whna for a brief questionnaire to identify community needs or become a connection in our network.
